David Sheppard Invests in the Boy Scouts of America

From an early age, David Sheppard was an active participant in the Boy Scouts of America. “Scouting taught me about the value of giving back. I benefited greatly from the time, resources, and efforts from members of my community who made participating possible for me,” he said. Today, David volunteers more than 1,200 hours per year and was responsible for raising over $2 million in donations during his two-year term as President of the Boy Scouts of America Northwest Suburban Council.

Sheppard’s most recent project was to incorporate science, technology, engineering and mathematics (S.T.E.M.) into the Boy Scouts’ outdoor adventures and skills programs. His vision has created Discovery Outpost, a recruiting and activities center for scouting at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois, the first of its kind in the country. David now serves as the Vice President of Development and has a fund-raising goal of over $4.5 million of new annual donations.

David earned Honorable Mention for the 2015 Community Leadership Awards.
