San Diego, Calif. (August 15, 2009) – Invest in Others Charitable Foundation, a public charity that supports the philanthropic and volunteer efforts of financial advisors throughout the country, today announced it contributed $30,000 to a San Diego charity through its first annual 5K run/walk in San Diego on August 15. Invest in Others made a donation on behalf of every 5K participant to Second Chance, a non-profit focused on breaking the cycle of unemployment, poverty, homelessness, substance abuse and incarceration in the San Diego area.
Also following the run/walk, Invest in Others awarded the top three male and female financial advisor finishers with generous donations to their charity of choice.
“Invest in Others is proud to host its first annual 5K run/walk in San Diego, providing financial advisors and their families the opportunity to give back to the local community and demonstrate how committed they are to enhancing the lives of those less fortunate,” said Kandis Bates, president of the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation. “Their presence here is a testament to the amazing work that financial advisors do for communities across the country every day. We look forward to hosting this event next year, and we are excited about supporting Second Chance with additional resources to help them fulfill their vital mission.”
“The additional resources provided by Invest in Others is helping Second Chance provide more individuals with the opportunity to take a new life pathway, one that emphasizes responsibility and self-reliance, and opens doors for them to become productive, contributing citizens. We are grateful for this new community partnership,” said Scott H. Silverman, Executive Director/Founder of Second Chance.
