Newton, MA – September 24, 2014 – The Invest in Others Charitable Foundation hosted the eighth annual Community Leadership Awards on September 18, 2014, at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. Financial advisors from across the industry were recognized during this event for their leadership and commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

“This year’s finalists, and all of the hundreds of other financial advisors who were nominated for this year’s Awards, represent the very best of the financial services industry,” said Suzanne Siracuse, VP/Publisher of InvestmentNews and a Board member of the Invest in Others Charitable Foundation.
Awards were presented in the following categories: Catalyst, Community Service, Global Community Impact, Volunteer of the Year and Lifetime Achievement. The category winners include:
- For the Catalyst Award: Michael J. Skrynecki of Atlanta, Georgia (certified financial planner and financial advisor with Morgan Stanley) was honored for his work with the Wiskott-Aldrich Foundation.
- For the Community Service Award: Pat McClain of Sacramento, California (chief executive of Hanson McClain Advisors) was honored for his work with the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services.
- For the Global Community Impact Award: Tyson Ray of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin (founding partner of FORM Wealth Management Group, affiliated with Raymond James Financial Services) was honored for his work with Children’s World Impact.
- For the Volunteer of the Year Award: Lynn Phillips-Gaines of Starkville, Mississippi (principal of Phillips Financial, affiliated with Raymond James Financial Services) for her work with Starkville Bridges Out of Poverty.
- For the Lifetime Achievement Award: Alexandra Armstrong of Washington, D.C. (principal of Armstrong, Fleming & Moore, affiliated with Commonweath Financial Network) was honored for her work with the Foundation for Financial Planning.
The Invest in Others Charitable Foundation will donate $20,000 to each winner’s designated charity, with the exception of the Lifetime Achievement Award winner, whose charity will receive a $25,000 donation.
Hundreds of nominations for the Community Leadership Awards are received each year and reviewed by a diverse panel of leaders in the financial services industry. The organizations benefiting from the involvement of dedicated financial advisors represent a broad range of important humanitarian causes, including education, medical research and patient assistance, health and human services, financial literacy, and many more.
Following this year’s awards dinner, Invest in Others finalists, winners, top sponsors, and Board members visited the NASDAQ MarketSite in New York City’s Time Square on Friday, September 19. In honor of the occasion, Megan McAuley, Executive Director of Invest in Others, and Bill Dwyer rang the Bell.
