NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore
$20,000 towards its Ending the Silence Program
Grant Secured by Stephen Spurrier | Old Orchard Wealth Solutions, Private Advisor Group, LPL Financial

In what capacity are you involved with this organization?
“I initially started as a program participant taking the NAMI Family to Family class to find support for my son and family. I joined the Board of Directors in 2015. As a Board member, I have served as Treasurer, Vice-President, and currently serve as President.”
What is the grant for and how will it benefit the community?
NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore improves the lives of individuals living with mental health conditions, their families, and communities through education, support, and advocacy. The $20,000 grant from Invest in Others will be used to support NAMI Ending the Silence. This education and awareness program helps participants to know the signs of a mental health condition and learn how to seek help. Ending the Silence is an engaging 1-hour presentation that includes information about warning signs, facts and statistics, and the effects of stigma and negative perceptions about mental illness. The presentation is designed in three variations; for middle and high school students, parents and families, and teachers and school staff.
