North Star Resource Group of Minneapolis, MN established the Scott Richards North Star Charitable Foundation (SRNSCF) in 2014. The firm is committed to donate 10% of its revenue to local charities through the foundation each year. This is done to ensure that as the firm grows, the community grows with them. Last year, North Star’s foundation donated a total of $408,000 to nonprofits and since 2014, it has contributed over $5 million. Many of the organizations that it contributes to have been founded by or directly impact its employees or their family members.
The Scott Richards North Star Charitable Foundation also hosts a Bike for Kids holiday party each December. Children ages 6-11 attend to receive a surprise bicycle and helmet as a gift. In 2018, the organization gave away 300 bicycles to children in Minneapolis. To date, Bikes for Kids has provided over 5,000 bikes to kids in the Twin Cities area.
