Coalition for the Homeless
Morgan Stanley Wealth Management
The Coalition for the Homeless is the nation’s oldest advocacy and direct service organization helping homeless men, women and children. The organization believes that affordable housing, sufficient food and the chance to work for a living wage are fundamental rights in a civilized society. Since its founding in 1991, the Coalition has worked through litigation, public education and direct services to ensure that these goals are realized.
As a born and bred New Yorker, Isaac Simon was inspired by the events of September 11, 2001 to give back to the city he calls home and began volunteering with the Coalition for the Homeless. Every Tuesday night, Isaac drives a white cargo van with hot meals and donated clothes through Manhattan and the Bronx, feeding upwards of 250 people a night. He has done so every week for the past 15 years. On those Tuesday routes, he encounters many familiar faces and is always reminded how appreciative and caring New Yorkers can be. As the team leader for his route, Isaac oversees meal distribution, coordinates volunteers, and collects and distributes donated clothes and other necessities. Isaac also serves as an ambassador for the Coalition, securing financial and in-kind donations from colleagues, financial institutions, and local businesses.
