2023 Grants for Good Recipient

  • Canopy Center
$16,000 for Removing Barriers to Access Services

What is the grant for and how will it benefit the community?

As an agency Canopy Center is able to provide many of its services at no cost. Child victims of sexual abuse as well as their family members can receive stabilizing therapeutic services following disclosure.

Children involved in the child welfare and foster care system can receive individualized advocacy in academic and courtroom settings, as well as a safe environment for supervised visitation. This funding allows for the agency to remove barriers to access these services as needed.

We provide transportation assistance in the form of cabs or gas cards. When a child arrives for services, they can grab popcorn, lemonade or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (so often they come to us straight from school!). We do this because we want children to be set up for success when they go into trauma focused therapy, and going in hungry creates an unnecessary distraction from the hard work they are about to do.

We can provide translated documents, or an onsite or by phone interpreter as needed for ELL individuals (English language learners). We can provide mileage reimbursement to support services being provided out in the community by staff, interns & volunteers.
