Inspired by the loss of a personal friend to ovarian cancer, Carrie Coghill became committed to learning more about ovarian cancer and how she could use her talents to help find a cure. The Magee Womens Research Institute and Foundation (MWRI) is the largest, independent U.S. research institute focused on women’s health. Carrie has served as a Board Member with MWRI since 2010, and in 2015, took on the role as Board Chair. In that capacity, she has strengthened the organization’s fundraising acumen to ensure that Magee’s world-class research had diversified revenue streams. In the past years, the organization launched a $100 million Fundraising Campaign for Research and has raised more than $60 million to date. Carrie is successful in cultivating major donors for MWRI and securing foundation gifts as well.

Women’s health is grossly underfunded — only .22 cents of every research dollar goes towards women’s health initiatives. Carrie recognizes these inequalities in gender-specific research and believes that her work as an ambassador for Magee is a positive way to give back and support women.
