Motivated by a nephew who struggles with a condition that impairs verbal expressive communication, Chad Coe founded the Special Kids Network in 1999. The organization seeks to create community awareness and raise funds in support of organizations who believe that every child and young adult, regardless of the nature of their background or disability, should be able to enjoy life to its fullest and participate in the mainstream of their community. Chad’s own personal experience growing up with special needs and special education until the 4th grade motivates him to make a difference – and his enthusiasm and dedication to the Special Kids Network is truly the bedrock of the organization.
Currently President of the Board of Directors, Chad’s hands-on approach to daily operations and organizational management is noteworthy by all. Chad has recruited over 20 board members and over 75 volunteers. Since the organization’s inception, Special Kids Network has raised more then $4 million dollars for over 10 nonprofits in Chicago that serve children with special needs, including JDRF, Keshet, and the Special Olympics.
