2021 Grants for Good Winner

  • Fuquay Varina Junior Woman’s Club
    $7,500 for Food Insecurity Bins

What is the grant for and how will it benefit the community?

The Fuquay-Varina Junior Woman’s Club has over 30 members who share the common desire to serve their community through volunteer service while building lasting friendships. The $7,500 grant from Invest in Others will be used to purchase pre-packaged meals for eleven local elementary, middle and high schools for 6 months. These ‘food insecurity bins’ will be placed in the front office to give those students who are food insecure the ability to privately grab a bag to add to their backpack to take home. This grant is anticipated to help over 1,000 students.

Thanks to IiO, we were able to provide funding to 13 local schools to receive snack bins with snacks and waters. There is a huge need for food in our schools and it felt great to be able to jump start this program with these funds. Its been well received by the schools and our local community. IiO is such a wonderful program and I appreciate the funds we have received.
