Ken Clark

Mentoring Excellence Award

Ken Clark has an affinity for a group of people whom others might view as unreachable: wayward teens. By volunteering with the local chapter of Young Life, a national group that uses mentors to help teens develop the skills and attitudes needed to reach their full potential. When his investment firm was downsized in 2002, he stepped in as the local organization’s director. With Mr. Clark at the helm for several years, the group went from providing 1,000 yearly volunteer mentoring hours to more than 10,000 hours. As a result, hundreds of kids have walked away from destructive lifestyles.
