In what capacity are you involved with this organization?

“I volunteered at KACF-SF’s Annual Fundraising Gala in 2018 and 2019. I also have served on mental health focus groups addressing the unique issues of the AAPI population, as well as the Community Grant Committee to help in the selection process of our grantee partners. In 2019, I was nominated to serve on the 2020 Associate Board (AB) to help inspire the next generation of philanthropists. I participated in 2020 Census campaign efforts. The AB launched the COVID-19 Fundraising and Volunteer Response Team where I was able to volunteer over 200 hours to help create and deliver care packages and meals to the senior population.”

What is the grant for and how will it benefit the community?

The Korean American Community Foundation of San Francisco is a grant-making and coalition-building organization in the Bay Area with a mission to tackle critical issues of poverty, mental health, domestic violence, low-income, and senior care issues specifically for the Korean American community. The $25,000 grant from Invest in Others will be used to improve the safety and security of vulnerable senior and immigrant community members during this time of increased anti-Asian racist attacks by distributing safety alarms and informational booklets. These personal alarms and booklets will empower individuals to live their lives with less fear and know where to go to receive additional support.
