What is the grant for and how will it benefit the community?
The mission of Partnership to End Human Trafficking (PEHT) is to empower survivors with a path toward healing and independence through a long term residential recovery program and employment in our PEHT social enterprise. The $20,000 grant from Invest in Others will be used to provide financial literacy, community college classes, computer skills & job readiness workshops for both in house residents and case management recipients of the PEHT social enterprise business. The social enterprise provides support for women re-entering the workforce, providing them with critical vocational training skills, paid employment, a savings account, and access to build a resume. This grant will be used to pay direct survivor salaries in the social enterprise business, as well as the cost to run financial literacy workshops and resume building courses for in house and community based clients.
In addition to the PEHT residents receiving laptops and educational assistance the biggest impact came from the ability to post on LinkedIn and spread the word, as awareness is a huge part of PEHT’s mission. The awareness in the Financial Services community has opened doors for fund raising efforts.
