Newark born, Rachel Schwarz is committed through her work at Greater Newark Conservancy, to improving lives through the Conservancy’s programs in environmental and nutritional education, community greening and job training. Rachel’s mother served this organization decades ago and after she died, Rachel asked to sit on the board and carry out her mother’s vision through volunteerism. Over the past eleven years, Rachel has served on a variety of committees including the Finance, Nominating and Board Development Committees.
The Greater Newark Conservancy promotes environmental stewardship to improve the quality of life in New Jersey’s urban communities. Rachel advances this mission by serving as a premier fundraiser and ambassador to the Jewish community. Through these efforts, Rachel helped secure a $1.5 million challenge grant from a major funder to support the renovation of a historic former synagogue. Overall, her “can do” attitude and positive influence is a great asset for the Greater Newark Conservancy.
