Raj Sharma

Having grown up in India, I feel a moral responsibility to uplift the lives of the less fortunate and help develop confidence in young minds while propelling them to aspire for higher education.

The American India Foundation is committed to improving the lives of India’s underprivileged, with a special focus on women, children, and youth. AIF does this through high impact interventions in education, health, and livelihoods, because poverty is multidimensional. AIF’s unique value proposition is its broad engagement between communities, civil society, and expertise, thereby building a lasting bridge between the United States and India.

Raj Sharma founded the New England Chapter of AIF in 2004 and currently serves as Director Emeritus. Throughout his years of service, Raj served as the chapter leadership’s mentor and guide, personally investing his energies into deepening and expanding its footprint and impact. More recently, Raj served as a founding member of the Hyderabad Chapter in Telangana, India, which is AIF’s first inaugural chapter outside of the US. Raj grew up in India and believes he has a moral responsibility to uplift those who are less fortunate through education and other AIF programs.
