Covenant House New York is committed to serving children and youth facing homelessness and human trafficking. Covenant House offers a host of holistic programming including street outreach, medical care, education and job readiness programs, workforce development, substance-use treatment and prevention, apartment-living programs, and life-skills training. At its very core, though, is a commitment to serving children and youth with absolute respect and unconditional love.
Rick Van Benschoten started volunteering with Covenant House more than a decade ago and has played a strategic role in bringing funds to the organization. Rick was instrumental in creating Covenant House’s first Sleep Out in 2011, an event that raised awareness for youth homelessness by profiling thirty volunteers who slept on the New York Streets on a cold, November night. This event has grown into a national fundraiser and raises millions in revenue annually for Covenant House programming.
You can’t touch everybody; you can’t impact everybody, but, if you can help one kid feel good about themselves, then you’ve been successful.
