Roy Jordan grew up as a self-described “Y Kid” – it was a safe, community-oriented environment and became a way of life for him and his brother. As an adult, Roy felt compelled to give back to his local Green Hills YMCA when he learned about the many outreach programs that serve his neighbors and benefit Greater Nashville. The Green Hills YMCA is one of 15 chapters of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee, which serves 368,000 people annually and provides 90,000 children and adults with crucial services, including health-based programs for nutrition and fitness support, leadership development opportunities for teens, and other life-changing programs that support individuals struggling with loss, financial instability and more.

Roy saw a need to do what he does best – communicate the financial needs of the organization, and help people open their hearts and wallets to support those needs. Once he started, his commitment to serve continued to grow. Today, he is a key volunteer leader, fundraiser and influencer for the Green Hills Family YMCA, the YMCA of Middle Tennessee Association and YMCA Foundation.

A member of the Board of the Green Hills Family YMCA since 2004, Roy has served on numerous committees and recruited 10 Board members and more than 30 leadership volunteers. In 2006, Roy expanded his involvement even more as a leadership volunteer – and for the past three years, as a board member – of the YMCA of Middle Tennessee Foundation, which supports all 15 community YMCAs. In 2015, he was elected Chair of the Green Hills Family YMCA Board and also appointed to the YMCA of Middle Tennessee Association Board. Roy has impressively raised more than $4.2 million dollars for the Green Hills Family YMCA and the YMCA of Middle Tennessee over the past 12 years.
