When Tracye Caughell’s two daughters had an interest in musical theater, but no outlets to explore it, Tracye discovered that other children and families in her community faced the same challenge. That was the impetus she needed to rally the community to come together to form a nonprofit that would provide quality musical theatre performance and educational opportunities. Now entering its 16th year, Children’s Musical Theatre (CMT) of Bartlesville serves nearly 2,000 children annually.
When it comes to the CMT, Tracye is a jack-of-all-trades. In a leadership capacity, she serves as a board member, chair of major gifts, member of the building committee, and member of the Setting the Stage for Tomorrow Cabinet, which leads the organization’s capital campaign. She’s also ever-present behind the scenes—producing shows, building props, making costumes, putting on microphones, and helping with makeup, wigs, and costumes for performances. One of the most rewarding experiences for her is watching the kids grow and develop important life skills through musical theater.
Tracye earned Honorable Mention for the 2015 Community Leadership Awards.
